There's a Wocket in my Pocket by Dr. Seuss
There’s a Wocket in my Pocket by Dr. Seuss is a simple, silly book for
young children. The story is about a boy
who lives in a house where it is common to find a zamp in a lamp, or a nink in
the sink. With some exceptions the boy
enjoys all of the “things” that he finds.
The colors added to the illustrations create personality to the story
and allows the cartoons to stand out.
It
introduces children to rhyming and understanding the concept of reading as well
as difficult vocabulary such as cupboard.
Dr. Seuss uses “silly” words to allow readers and students to use their
imagination and create their own words. This
book would be of good use in a classroom to allow children to explore such
words.
